Seton Hall will be hosting its annual Relay For Life event Friday, April 20th. It is held in the gym and goes on from 6 p.m. until the early morning the next day. There are food, games, music, performers, and so much more at this event.
All of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society as they held fight the ongoing battle vs. all kinds of cancer. Throughout the night, there are countless emotional and moving ceremonies; these include the Survivor/Caregiver Walk and the Luminaria Ceremony. This event is an amazing way for students to honor their loved ones and friends who have or are currently battling cancer.
It is open to the entire student population here at Seton Hall, but a large attendance is from the Greek organizations that are on campus. Along with Greek orgs, dance teams and clubs, along with choirs and other clubs that preform throughout the night.
During the night there are different restaurants that have generously donated food for the event. Along with a variety of food options, each organization that attends sets up a booth or table with fun activities to raise money. Over the past few years, there has been cotton candy stations, face painting, airbrush tattoos, make your own bracelets and many more different activities.
Mariah Braman, (Pictured at the top of this post) junior here at Seton Hall, is in a sorority on campus and has attended this event twice so far. “My favorite part about Relay For Life is knowing all of the people I am helping while having fun with my friends. It’s such a rewarding experience.” She also stated that one of her favorite memories of this event was when a magician came to preform at midnight her freshman year.
